Using the names

Names generated or listed here are combinations of ordinary words. You are free to use them for games, tabletop campaigns, fiction, streams, crews and communities without credit or permission.

Trademarks are your responsibility

This site cannot tell you whether a name is legally available. Some curated entries reference real historical vessels or well-known fiction and are described as such. If you intend to trade under a name, register a company, sell merchandise or run a commercial esports organisation, run a proper trademark search in your jurisdiction and take professional advice first.

Historical content

The history on this site is researched and checked, and it is still a website rather than a peer-reviewed source. For academic work, go to the underlying maritime histories and archaeological reports rather than citing this page.

The describe-your-crew mode

That feature is provided as-is and depends on a third party model. It may be unavailable, rate-limited or produce results you do not like. The roll-names mode does not depend on it and works regardless.

No warranty

The site is provided as is. We make no guarantee that a name is unique, available on any platform, permitted by your game, or acceptable to any tournament organiser. Game publishers, league administrators and event organisers apply their own content rules, and those rules take precedence over anything here.
